CAMP GUIDELINES

Camp registrations are NON-REFUNDABLE. Please only register for the camps your child can attend and which do not conflict with other summer plans you may have. Camp fees may not be prorated for any days of camp missed due to weather cancellations (see below for more information), homesickness, voluntary withdrawal, behavior challenges, illness or injury.

If you are unable to use your registration for the child listed on the camp, you can transfer it to another immediate family member or choose a new camp if spots are available. All transfers have to be coordinated by our Bettman main office staff at 513-321-6208. ANY TRANSFERS NOT COORDINATED BY OUR OFFICE WILL BE NULL AND VOID. Any changes to a camp registration need to be made by 9am on the Friday before the chosen camp week.

If you would like to donate your camp spot, please call our main office at 513-321-6208.

Due to the popularity of our camps and lower camper to group leader ratios,
- we have a NEW policy this year for Ault and French Park NatureCamps. All Day Campers (ages 5 - 12) can only attend one week at these parks. Preschool Discovery Morning camps  have always had the policy of one week at any park due to the repeated activities.
- we will continue to provide a wait list for all sold out camps in case of a cancellation.  Call 513-321-6208 to be placed on the list.
You should check weekly for openings that may occur in previously sold out camps. Parents will NOT be able to sell their camp registration on the wait list.

Expectations of Campers

Campers should be able to:

* stay with their assigned group with minimal reminders.
* explore the natural world and move themselves along trails, over uneven ground, up and down hills, and across bridges and streams.
* interact with their peers in group games / activities and be able to maintain appropriate self-control in social situations.

Cincinnati Parks has a zero tolerance policy on drugs and violence.
Parents with questions regarding the staffing needed to meet a child's needs should contact us at 513-321-6208. We can make reasonable accommodations with advance notice and completion of a Youth Assessment and Accommodation Request Form.

Age Appropriateness and Grouping Reminders

Camp Groups: Campers are divided into groups of similarly-aged children for the week's activities. Camp provides an excellent opportunity to make new friends in a fun-filled environment. If your child would like to be placed with one special friend, please name that child on the registration form.
We can place children with the requested friend only if both children request to be placed together, the children are close in age and space is available.

Age Appropriateness of Campers Registered: The age range per camp is clearly stated on the website and attached materials. Parents should pay close attention and review this before registering campers. For example, a child must be at least 5 and entering 1st grade to be registered for all FULL DAY camps (9:30am - 3:00pm).
If a child of the wrong age is registered for a camp, you will be notified by our main office and we will try to accommodate you in another camp but we can not provide a refund.

Please call 321-6208 with questions.

Weather Conditions

For NatureCamps and Preschool Discovery Mornings in the Parks:
These camps are held completely outdoors in large neighborhood parks without indoor facilities that can accommodate large groups of children. If severe weather (thunderstorms and heavy rain) is predicted during the start or end of camp, a delayed start or early dismissal may occur. If severe weather is predicted for extended hours during camp, these camps may be canceled. Outdoor activities continue during a light rain. If a camp is canceled for the day, parents will be notified by email at least an hour before the starting time. No refund will be given for a canceled camp day.

For the camps occurring at California Woods, LaBoiteaux Woods and Trailside Nature Center, the buildings provide a safe haven during severe weather (thunderstorms and heavy rain). Camp activities will occur indoors until the severe weather has passed; outdoor activities continue during a light rain.

During heat alerts at all camps, hiking and other lively activities occur earlier in the day and quieter activities later.
